New Summit ABA Services

Who We Serve

New Summit provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children ages 18 months to 7 years old on the autism spectrum in the Eugene/Springfield and Bend, Oregon areas. We specialize in supporting children with mild to moderate challenging behaviors. However, children with severe or high-intensity self-injurious or aggressive behaviors may be referred to alternative resources better equipped to meet their needs.

Home-Based Therapy

New Summit provides 1:1 home-based therapy, where a therapist works directly with the client in the comfort of their own home. We utilize a variety of intervention methods, ensuring that therapy remains engaging and enjoyable for the child. We ask that a quiet room with a table and chairs is available as the primary setting for therapy, though sessions may also take place in other areas of the home and incorporate different forms of play. An adult must be present in the home during therapy, though their participation is not required throughout the entire session. Home-based therapy can be scheduled alongside clinic-based therapy for a well-rounded approach.

Clinic-Based Therapy
At New Summit, we also offer ABA therapy services at our clinic locations. These sessions do not require a parent or guardian to be present, allowing for a more focused therapy environment. Clinic-based therapy can be paired with home-based sessions to provide a cohesive approach, helping to generalize skills across different settings. Within the clinic, clients will have opportunities to work on social and peer play skills in structured peer groups. To learn more about our clinic locations, click here

Community Based Therapy
New Summit also offers community-based therapy, based on the child’s specific needs and with insurance approval. This therapy takes place in real-world settings where socially significant behavioral skills are addressed. Examples may include practicing safety commands in unfamiliar environments, exploring playgrounds, or working on flexibility in various settings. Community-based therapy is typically scheduled once a child has demonstrated acquisition and maintenance of skills in the home or clinic environment.

Family Guidance

Parent/guardian consultations are an integral part of your child’s therapy and can be held with or without the child present, based on family preferences and needs. These consultations may occur monthly or quarterly, depending on the family’s specific requirements. During family guidance sessions, parents will receive education on ABA principles, gain insight into their child's progress, discuss current behavioral or developmental concerns, and address any other topics that may support the child’s development or the family’s understanding of ABA therapy.

Service Hours

Services are available Monday through Thursday, from 8:45 AM to 5:45 PM. Fridays are dedicated to staff training and make-up sessions. Therapy sessions are scheduled on a weekly basis, with available days and times dependent on staff availability. Please note that evening sessions are in high demand and tend to fill quickly. Our ABA services follow an intensive model, and clients are expected to have a minimum of 4 therapy sessions per week (approximately 10 hours per week) to maintain services, unless otherwise determined by the BCBA. Sessions are structured in a block schedule format to ensure consistency and progress.

ABA Service Requirements

To qualify for ABA therapy services with your insurance provider, the following documentation is required:

  • Medical Autism Diagnosis Report: An educational diagnosis does not qualify for insurance-based services.

  • Referral for ABA: This is typically included in the diagnostic report but may also be obtained from a physician.

  • Participating Insurance with ABA Benefits: Clients with non-participating insurance may still be eligible through out-of-network benefits or private pay options.

  • Medicaid Clients: If the client has Medicaid, a recent well-child visit summary and audiology report will also be required.
